The 2022 South East Winter Games Team has started training!
2018 - Southeast Connection Winter Games Team
Every 4 years, the Saskatchewan Winter Games are held. This year, North Battleford was the host city. Because we share a Zone with Estevan, our clubs come together to create a team called the Southeast Connection. In 2017-2018, the team consisted of 3 athletes from the Weyburn Synchro Stars (Marley Kradovill, Megan Dammann and Alexis Vandermey) and 7 athletes from the Estevan Mermaids (Nyla Dyck, Caitlyn Graham, Haley Copeland, Marlie Weinrach, Gemma Bittman, Savannah Pohl,Hannah Mantei) . We were very excited to have our WSS coach Kim Neithercut join Brenda Lyons from Estevan to make up the coaching team. These 10 girls had an amazing year. It started with weekly bonding sessions through the summer of 2017 and the season was kicked off with a weekend in Oungre Park. The girls, coaches (and parent/campsite director Abby Kradovill) camped, swam and got to know each other better around the campfire.
The season progressed with twice a month practices in Weyburn and Estevan along with some weekend sessions.
They had a very successful season:
Sandy Roberts - Team - FIRST PLACE
Sask Winter Games - BRONZE MEDAL
Sadie Calder Knight Provincials - GOLD MEDAL
Canadian Prairie Championships - BRONZE MEDAL
These girls had an amazing experience and created friendships that will last many, many years!
